DisplayPort, aynı zamanda panel giriş / çıkışları ve mikrofon gibi bağlantıları destekleyen ayrı bir hatta da sahip. DisplayPort’un en fazla öne çıkan özelliklerinden birisi ise, tek kablo üzerinden çoklu monitöre imkan tanıyor olması. DisplayPort’u destekleyen firmalar oldukça büyük: Intel, NVIDIA, Samsung, Dell ve Lenovo ati gibi. HDMI, tüketici elektroniği için geliştirilen bir bağlantı arabirimi iken, DisplayPort sadece bilgisayar sistemleri düşünülerek geliştirilen bir bağlantı arabirimi. NVIDIA da DisplayPort desteğini yeni nesil grafik işlemcileriyle verecek. (Örneğin G92′de Displayport desteği var). Tabii ki sadece ekran kartlarında DisplayPort desteğinin olması bir anlam ifade etmeyecek. Kullanılacak LCD monitörlerde de DisplayPort bağlantı desteğini görmemiz lazım. Henüz satışa sunulan böyle bir model yok ancak bu konuda umudumuz, DisplayPort sadece bilgisayar sistemleri için olacağından, ülkemizde DVI bağlantılı monitörlere uygulanan ekstra vergilerin DisplayPort’lu monitörlere uygulanmaması. DisplayPort’un teknik özelliklerine kısaca bakalım: * Tek kablo ile 2560×1600 gibi yüksek çözünürlüğe destek. * 8B/10B veri iletimi * Açık ve genişletilebilir standart * 1080p çözünürlüğü 15 metrelik kablolar ile kayıpsız iletebilme * Fiber optik kablo desteği. * Kolay bağlama. * 128-bit AES DisplayPort içerik şifrelemesi ve HDCP desteği * Notebook’lara standart VGA yerine uygulanabilecek.
